Please join me this upcoming Fri. March 8, 2013 during the International Women’s Day Preview Public Reception 5:00-7:00 at Prescott-Joseph Center For Community Enhancement, Inc.,  located at 920 Peralta St., off 10th street in West Oakland. Public transportation from West Oakland BART 3 blocks further west and then a right turn 3 blocks north to 10th street. You’ll approach 2 very large trees in front of the Center.  There is wheelchair /walker access along the right side of the Prescott-Joseph Center.  Contact staff there for directions or other pertinent needs.  (510) 208-5651 or tomyegouache@sbcglobal.net

Artists Debra Saye, Tasin Sabir, Casper Banjo, Safi, Tomyé, Kathleen McPherson, Karen Hampton, Jennifer Koney, Frances Li, Tyler Hoare, and Pat Markovich present their images for ”A Mass of Voices: The Need To Breathe” fine Art exhibit. Viewing is Mon. March 11-Fri. April 26, 9:30-4:30 and by arrangement.   Field trips always welcome. Some of the Artists will speak during 6:00-7:00 PM, about the good, bad or the state of being a compelling contemporary woman, curtailing her thoughts when the need arises.

Can’t attend that function, how about the 3rd Thursday March 21, 7:00-9:00 open mike public reception for  ” Women In Public Spaces” on view from Tue. March 5 – Thur. March 28, 2013 at the Malonga Casquelourd Center For The Arts , previously known as The Alice Arts Center.  Hours of viewing are Mon-Thu. 9:00-12:30 / Tue. -Thu. 2:30-5:30 and by appointment.

This is another historical building like the Prescott, worthy of viewing the facade and the current exhibit .  The location is 1428 Alice Street, off 14th street in downtown Oakland. Either the Lake Merritt BART or 12 Street BART places you within a 6 block walk to reach the Malonga Casquelourd Center.  The popular performance and visual Arts Center is the 2nd building from the intersection of 14th street on Alice.  Contact (510) 238-2786 for details, directions and any pertinent info.

There's the need to stay focused, organized and deliberate, to enhance connections, community and personal projects and remain healthy in every possible way! I enjoy framing items, painting portraits, fabricating fused glass objects, projecting a positive public persona all told, giving people the best I have to offer. Sharing my talents by tutoring youth & adults and counseling visual Artists, uplifts me as well. I very much like and reference Classic & Contemporary Arts of a multitude of cultures. Here's to self care and care for others!
